Sirane donated some insulated bags to the Salvation Army

SIRANE’S thermally-insulated bags keep chilled food cold – and hot food hot. They’re a great way of keeping your brand in the public eye, via your customers…

And we were recently happy to donate some surplus bags to one of our local Salvation Army branches to support their bid to get fresh food to people in need.

Major Julian Rowley, Corps Officer for Newcastle Under Lyme Corps with Chesterton Corps and Community Centre, said: “This is a fantastic donation that will enable us to continue serving our community in providing food support to those who are struggling to feed their families during these times. In addition to that, the bags will be handy for those families to reuse, thus saving them money. It is most generous and so appropriate a gift.”

Used by supermarket shoppers and small independent food outlets alike, insulated bags are a reusable bag ideal for transporting fresh good home, delivery services, marketing and promotion - with many people opting for their own bespoke ‘branded’ bag.

We also stock a range of plain bags and bags with our own print design – which we sell online (www.fieldandfare.co.uk) as well as to customers who just want plain bags – and it was from these bags which we were able to supply enough stock to help the Salvation Army out.

Simon Balderson, Sirane MD, said: “There’s people out there really struggling, and organisations like the Salvation Army do an amazing job and helping people get by. We’re just glad our bags can help make a difference when things are difficult.”

Sirane’s insulated bags come with a unique handle designed to make the bags comfortable for the consumer to carry – they’re the bag your customers will reach for…

Simon Balderson, Sirane MD, said: “Whether you’re a supermarket or a farm-shop, selling fresh meat or hot-food, insulated bags could be the answer. We can custom-brand or supply with generic print, and digitally printing allows for shorter print runs.

“Our anti-bacterial option can also protect customers long-term against harmful bacteria.”

Active anti-bacterial properties (from Biomaster) are built into the insulated bags during the manufacturing process, so the protection will last for as long as the bag does...

“No-one really considers the health implications of re-using shopping bags,” added Simon. “but scientific studies show bacteria build-up can be potentially harmful, and that there’s often as much bacteria on the outside of meat packaging as on the inside. There’s advice out there that people should wash bags-for-life, but how many people do this?

“Anti-bacterial thermally-insulated bags stop customers having to even worry about this.”

Both off-the-shelf and custom-printed versions of the bag are available, and there

are a range of potential sizes offered, including bags small enough to be lunch-bags

Cargo Fresh - absorbency for perishable goods in the hold....

SIRANE has developed an absorbent solution for the transportation and protection of perishable goods in the airfreight industry – Cargo Fresh.

Perishable and thermal sensitive goods can often be rejected in the process of being loaded into cargo holds - due to the lack of absorbency/protection.

Simon Balderson, Sirane MD said: “With chilled products being exposed to ambient temperatures during transportation there is a risk of high humidity causing condensation, and the possibility of leakage from certain transported goods can bring about the risk of corrosion if not contained.

“This is particularly an issue with products packed with ice, such as seafood.

“Cargo Fresh is a highly effective solution, which is easy to use and offers a high level of protection for both the cargo and the aircraft hold itself.”

Cargo Fresh is a highly absorbent material and acts as a layer of protection or moisture barrier. It will absorb from 1.5 to 10 litres of liquid per square metre, with a barrier coated HDPE film base which prevents liquid penetrating through to the floor and an absorbent top layer. This protects both the goods and the aircraft.

Cargo Fresh can also be used as a solution in shipping containers where there are issues with condensation or ‘container rain’.

It is available as standard in reels 1200mm wide and 73m long, with absorbency of 1.5, 3, 5, 7.5 or 10 litres per square metre available.

Sirane is an innovative packaging development-to-manufacture company, with expertise in absorbency and material science. Specialisms include bags and pouches, absorbent products, shelf-life extension and dual-ovenable products.

It has four main divisions: food packaging; medical & healthcare; horticultural and industrial. The company is based in Telford, Shropshire, with additional manufacturing in Guadalajara (Mexico), Wroclaw (Poland) and Moscow (Russia).
