High barrier Earthpouches - plastic-free and recyclable

HIGH barrier Earthpouches have been added to our Field & Fare site – allowing customers to buy boxes of 1,000 units in either white or brown Kraft.

High barrier pouches are particularly good for products such as tea and coffee, and any other products which are particularly sensitive to oxygen/moisture, including milk chocolate confectionery, nuts, dried fruit snacks, and protein powders.

Simon Balderson, Sirane MD, said: “Field & Fare has had a strong start, and we’ve begun adding additional items following feedback from customers.

“There’s been a lot of interest in the high barrier pouches, and so we decided to add them as a stock item in the two colours available – white and brown Kraft.”

Our new e-commerce site Field & Fare has a particular focus on environmentally-friendly packaging solutions – and a range of other products are also available.

Products offered include our Earthboard salmon boards/meat boards, and cake boards – in both cases, they are recyclable and plastic-free.

We’ve also added environmental solutions for horticulture, including plastic-free tree guards, and our compostable flower pouches in three different colours.

And we’ll shortly be adding our new plastic-free sandwich packs in two sizes – fitting 2 and 3 sandwiches – watch this space for more information.

Simon Balderson, Sirane MD, said: “Field & Fare offers some great eco-friendly packaging solutions, but makes it accessible to smaller farm-shops, delis etc, and to start-ups…. and, as seen with the high barrier Earthpouch, new products will be added as we go along – with sandwich skillets next on our list.

“We’ve already had a strong start, with plenty of orders already shipped out. We’ve also added the facility to order samples of some of our eco-friendly solutions.”

Earthpouch - Skinner's chose our plastic-free pouch for their new dog treats range

HERITAGE pet food brand Skinner’s has added a new range of snacks for dogs packed in our plastic-free & recyclable Earthpouches.

The three new products have been added to their Field & Trial range to coincide with a rebranding of the whole range and the moving of all their pet food into more sustainable, recyclable packaging.

The three new Skinner’s dog treats packed in Earthpouch are:

·        Dental & Digestive Dog Treats - Peppermint & charcoal

·        Joint & Conditioning Dog Treats – With salmon oil

·        Dog Training Treats - Rich in chicken protein

Having decided all their packaging needed to be recyclable, Skinner’s are using Earthpouch for dry food, and TetraPak for their wet food.

With goodness at its heart, Skinner’s isn’t just good for the canine but good for the supplier and customer too. Recent data has shown that 66% of dog food buyers would choose a brand that uses eco-friendly packaging over one that does not and yet only 14% of UK pet food launches in 2019 featured sustainability credentials or claims.

Skinner’s, a seventh-generation family-owned pet food supplier, provide pet food for working dogs – and the packs include original artwork by Angela Harding which fits with their ‘born to be outdoors’ motto.

The company has been manufacturing pet food for 50 years.

Simon Balderson, Sirane MD, said: “Skinner’s new pouches look great, the designs are very eye-catching, and have successful portrayed the heritage of the brand, while giving them a modern look.

“Dry pet food snacks are the perfect product for Earthpouch – and there really is no need for products like this to be in plastic anymore.

“It’s great to see a brand like Skinner’s take the decision to move away from plastics to a more sustainable, eco-friendly packaging format.”

Earthpouch is a plastic-free, recyclable stand-up pouch. A water-based coating gives the required barrier, and the whole pouch when finished with can simply be put into the paper recycling stream.

Sirane recently made a million-pound plus investment by expanding into a new unit that also saw the installation of an environmentally friendly and state-of-the-art water-based printing press.

The printing operation is, we believe, the first in the UK to operate using solely water-based printing – meaning there is no solvents to be disposed of after printing, and no harmful emissions.

Earthpouch and Earthfilm can potentially be printed on the new press.

Sirane has four main divisions: food packaging; medical & healthcare; horticultural and industrial. The company is based in Telford, Shropshire, with two additional sites in the UK, plus additional manufacturing in Guadalajara (Mexico), and Moscow (Russia).
